Child Support in New Jersey is a big issue now. With many New Jersey residents collecting Government assistance (Welfare/Tanf) the state is relying on father's to make up the welfare deficit the state faces. What better way to do that than to send these men to jail.
We seen this story and heard about it many times before. Men that don't want to take care of their responsibilities like a man, get thrown in jail for not financially taking care of their child. The state have seen enough of this go on for to long and now their making an effort to hold these men accountable.
New Jersey is known not to be one of the most harsh states when it comes to penalizing men for failure to pay child support. With the millions of dollars that tax payers pay out every year to fund these programs, it don't come as no surprise that New Jersey is finally cracking down on this problem to make up for the large deficit the state faces. Just yesterday New Jersey decided to up the fares on on all buses and rail services October 1st to make up for the 60 million dollar deficit New Jersey Transit faces.
There are thousands of men throughout the state that are thousands and thousands of dollars behind on child support payments. Maybe jail isn't the place to go for these men to be able to make payments, but for right now this is the only answer to try to make up for the deficit. "We have men in our state that have spent 18 years on child support and never made a payment without penalty" one person said, "and there are numerous cases of this throughout the state". "We have to do something and I think the state is taking the appropriate steps to solve this problem".
What do you think about New Jersey cracking down on residents that are behind on child support payments?
