Early Wednesday morning a 5 year old Newark boy was involved in an accident on Interstate 78 East that cost him his life. Reportedly Nadine Walton, 54, of Newark was in the left lane when she drove off the left side of the highway. According to police, she tried to correct it and swerved back across the highway and hit a guard rail on the right side of the highway. Walton reportedly was driving a 2011 Nissan versa.
Reportedly Stefany Stephens, 31, of Newark, a 2 year old girl and also the 5 year old boy were all thrown from the car after hitting the guard rail.
Sadly the boy was found dead at the scene while Walton suffered serious injuries. The 2 year old girl, Stephens and Walton were all transported to Lehigh Vally Hospital in Salisbury. Walton who is now in intensive care, and Stephens condition is not yet known.
Open containers of alcohol was also found in the car. No charges have been filed and this tragedy is currently under investigation.
