Newark's own Shakur Stevenson full interview from HBO's Fight Game show. Shakur will be fighting May 20th at Madison Square Garden. It's kind of His home debute. Watch the interview below as Shakur reflect on growing up in Newark, the Olympics and his future in boxing.
Newark, NJ a rising city in the state of New Jersey, the largest city, is possibly going to be one of the hubs that people are focused on. With its constant focus on crime, much of what the city has to offer in arts, sports, and music, and many other venues of talent are lost in the constant reports of the criminal elements of the city.
Newark, NJ seems to have many young people rising in the arts and sports world. One such young man, is Shakur Stevenson, a young rising boxer, who performed well in the Olympics 2016, winning the Silver medal, and he would like the Prudential Center to be his home base for boxing events. Wow, that probably would have a positive effort on the city of Newark. Imagine that it would bring revenue to the city, which probably would benefit the city in its many avenues of change that is currently in motion. If Shakur Stevenson becomes the face of boxing like many of the boxing experts predict, it's possible that million dollar fights can be coming to Newark in the future. Newark can become just like Vegas where all the stars and celebrities will be visiting the city to watch Newark's rising star. With million dollar fights in town, businesses will be willing to swarm to the city looking for a chance to cash in. With businesses coming to town that also means more jobs. This will bring many groups of people to our great city, which would put an immediate focus on how the city tackles crime.
This city definitely needs a change. What a refreshing change it can be when one of Newark’s own put Newark on the map once again, and in a big way. The people of Newark have to get behind this young man in supporting him and his vision for the city of Newark. The people of the city of Newark will have boxing right in their midst. Boxing can become big again in this great city. This will bring hope to many other youngsters that enjoy the sport of boxing and to those who have never thought about it. Boxing a great sport for young men to grow up in and learn camaraderie, sportsmanship, respect, and perseverance. Shakur Stevenson can be a game changer for the city of Newark, NJ. I hope the city of Newark and its citizens will continue to support him.
