After winning Silver in the 2016 Olympics Shakur Stevenson went to Instagram and Congratulated the Cuban fighter and announced "it's time for the pros". Shakur will not be returning to the 2020 Olympics for another chance to capture his dream.
Already claimed by Floyd Mayweather TMT Promotions, Shakur will trade the chance for gold to cash in. Many expert think Shakur can break all of Mayweather records because he has a style made for the pros. For example, the fight he lost to the Cuban might play out different at the pro level. He surely was the most skilled fighter but the scoring is very different in the Olympics.
Shakur Stevenson has not officially signed with anyone yet, it's against the rules for promoters to sign boxer while they are still active in their amatuer career. Now that he annouced he going pro, promoters will have to have their checkbooks out. He could possibly signed a record setting deal.
