Greatness is defined by Championships. Lebron James have a couple of them but still don't get half the credit he deserve. Appearing in his 5th straight NBA Finals (6th appearance overall) Lebron James name take a lot of heat when mentioned with the likes of a Michael Jordan, or a Kobe Bryant. Why though? Well we will dive deep into this topic and tell you why no matter what Lebron do, it just won't be enough to silent the critics.
We all remember the great Allen Iverson who played his heart out each and every game. Allen Iverson in his prime was never surrounded by other great players. Seeing his career fall short of raising that NBA Championship trophy, and acquiring a NBA championship ring, many people sit back and dream about what if Allen Iverson played along side of a Shaq, or a Pippen. Being the greatest player in the world (right now) Lebron James get criticized for playing along side of other great players. During his first stint in Cleveland, Lebron begged the organization to get him some help. After not receiving the help he begged for, he left Cleveland and headed to Miami. There he would win two rings and participate in 4 straight NBA finals.
After appearing in 4 straight finals he left Miami and headed back home to Cleveland, with the hopes of bringing his hometown a NBA title. This year he made his 5th straight NBA Finals and is taking on the best team in the NBA single handedly. I myself have to admit I'm not the biggest LeBron fan, but I found myself critiquing this man every miss, every move, every time he complains during a game. Calling him soft, a cry baby, a flopper.
Then it hit me. This man receives just as much hate as Floyd Mayweather for simply being great in his own way. Michael Jordan defined what Greatness is in the NBA. Kobe Bryant came along and gave us glimpses of Michael Jordan again when we thought we would never see it again. Lebron James don't remind us of Michael Jordan, but because of that, do that mean he's not great? He doesn't walk like Mike, talk like Mike, as smooth as Mike. The only thing that resembles Michael Jordan is the number 23 he wears on his jersey. LeBron James will never satisfy the critics. Floyd Mayweather doesn't get the job done like the likes of a Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, or a Sugar Ray Robinson. The athletes of today are not following in the footsteps of the legends before them, but instead they're making their own. No, there will never be another Michael Jordan..... but there will also never be another LeBron James.
