Early this morning Itiyanaha Spruill was sentenced to 365 days in prison. However Spruill has already served 96 days in Essex County Correctional Facility and will be granted with time served toward her sentence. Spruill will be released after serving one more month and will come home on probation.
With tax fraud hitting $21 billion, the IRS acknowledged that filing as self employed is a major problem now. The problem with the system is that it does not take much information at all to file as self employed. All it take is a birth date, social security number and some made up numbers to file a fraudulent tax return. Although the system give alerts of red flags, the IRS system is a pay first ask questions later system.
Fraudulent tax returns grew from $6 billion to $21 billion within the last two years. The IRS will begin a major crackdown in an effort to stop fraudulent tax returns. Self employment is not the only way to file false tax returns. Filing head of household for tax breaks is also big problem. This year the government have not exactly release ways that they will catch fraudulent tax filers but an major investigation is underway.
In Colorado today, medical examiners were able to confirm that 28 year old Nathan Powelds died from a marijuana overdose. It is said to believe "in order to induce death a marijuana smoker would have to consume 20,000 to 40,000 times as much marijuana as is contained in one marijuana cigarette weigh approximately .9 grams. A smoker would theoretically have to consume nearly 1,500 pounds of marijuana within about fifteen minutes to induce a lethal response", according to an article from theweedblog.com.
Friends found Nathan and transported him to the hospital. Doctors were baffled and couldn't figure out how to diagnose the patient. After investigating Nathan's home, police found a unbelievable amount of marijuana. Exactly how the overdose occured is still unknown.
On Monday morning a fight broke out in City Hall. Around 10 a.m. a very upset employee walked into the Chief Of Staff office being very disrespectful to another employee. However a fight broke out between the to workers one of the workers were arrested and sent to a medical center. There have not been any words from the Mayor or any staff members from City Hall.
18 year old Quadree Richardson Jr. was involved in another shooting Friday night. Quadree reportedly opened fire on a 28 year old man. He's being sought on charges including aggravated assault and weapons offenses in connection with a shooting by 11th Avenue and South 8th Street shortly after 11 p.m..
Quadree Richardson is already wanted for the murder of 18 year old Daquill M. Grant.
"He is considered armed and dangerous," Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said in a previous joint statement.
